The Only Way to Finish, is to Start

I woke up today ready to take control and start fresh. And I think I did a pretty good job. I wasn’t perfect, but it was better. I realized I need to Just Do It.

I have decided to start many times and I only last a couple days. I really want to eat better, live healthier and be happy from now until forever.  To do that I really need to start. I truly need to start.Change my life, change my eating habits and do it. I need to let my family and friends know so that it can be accepted into my lifestyle and I do not need to justify it.

Part of my plan to be happier was to make an effort to get outside during the workday and move around a little. It took me almost all day to pull myself away from my desk but at 3:30 I went for a short run.  I haven’t ran since my marathon in the beginning of October and I didn’t go far but it felt good to get outside and smell the fresh air. It was a beautiful afternoon and I am so glad I got to enjoy it, even if it was for a little while.

My run was not for exercise but for my sanity. I exercise for my sanity as well but also for fitness and health. So, I went to the gym after work. I did pilates (thanks to Blogilates) and I went on the elliptical for 60 min. It felt so good to sweet. I love reading a good magazine or catching up on some good TV while I work out.

Here is the total body pilates work out I did:

I love the feeling after a good workout. I feel accomplished and refreshed and ready for anything. On my walk out of the gym I even had the will power to resist the free pizza Planet Fitness offers the first Monday of every month.

I was able to walk away and go home. Maybe, one day, when I have established and maintained a healthy eating plan I will have a slice but not tonight. Tonight, I went home and ate a great meal of pork stir fry with oriental veggies and brown rice.

Although I did great all day, my boyfriend got Ben & Jerry’s for dessert and I couldn’t resist helping him with the pint. This is preciously what I need to work on. I didn’t even want any ice cream but he got Cinnamon Buns and I had never tried it. One bite turned into two, which turned into four, and I definitely ended up having a serving  (if not more) which is 280 cal.

Now I am watching Red State which is an extremely bizarre film. I have distracted myself with this post and plan to go to bed soon. Tomorrow is another busy day of healthy eating and exercise.
